The best age to get pregnant  :  factors that influence a woman’s decision

Let us face it.  It is every woman’s inherent right to decide what’s best for her. Getting pregnant at what age? You bet, this can be one of the most important decisions she will ever make in her lifetime. The decision can either make or break her.  If it appears later that she made the wrong decision she may regret it for the rest of her life.  And why not?  Her very life is at stake here.  It is not going to be an easy decision.   So, what gives? There are several fundamental factors that get into the picture, to wit:

  • Fertility. According to medical studies, women who are in good health with a reproduction system working at 100% are at their most fertile and  are most likely to conceive at the age of 25.  At  26 years old, the fertility of women starts to decline. The slide is comparatively slow from age 26 to 35. After that 10-year span, the decline in fertility accelerates and by the time a woman reaches the age of 40 conceiving can be riddled with many problems. It is further found out that about 67% of women past the age of 40 will be more prone to issues of infertility. And the dreaded menopause may set in earlier than expected.
  • Health. Women with serious illnesses, young and mature alike, may opt not to bear children permanently.  But there are courageous ladies, despite admonitions from their doctors, who risk their lives just to experience the nobility of motherhood the joys that go with it. There are also women who are very healthy but would not having anything to do with the discomforts of getting pregnant, with the much dreaded birth throes. A good batting average indicate that a majority of women from the  healthy, not so healthy, or sickly  finds motherhood the crowning glory of their womanhood. But each has her own idea when to start getting pregnant due to other considerations.
  •  Ambition. The women of today are no longer the same contented housewives of yesteryears who made housekeeping and rearing children their lifetime calling and pre-occupation.  Nowadays, the equality of the sexes has never been this pronounced. Women, like men, can now become Presidents and Prime Ministers.  The metamorphosis of women from timid household fixtures to hotshots of global organizations, CEO’s of  business empires and leaders of governments has permanently altered the traditional roles of women.  Even the sparkle of motherhood has dimmed considerably as more women are literally married to their careers and liberated lifestyles.  Can you blame progressive young ladies if marriage has now become a distant option?

The best age to get pregnant : an unsettled issue

If fertility were the only criteria, the best age to get pregnant would be 25. With fertility at its highest peak and a great chance to conceive, it’s best selling point would be a trouble-free pregnancy

But most women who are in the thick of their careers will most probably defer their decision to get pregnant at a much later period. In both cases, health is a factor that can change without warning – it will be relevant only when a woman finally decides to get pregnant.

The best age to get pregnant remains to be a very subjective option of every woman.  Although giving motherhood a try may be influenced by the husband, the decision as to when to get pregnant is still the prerogative of the wife. With contraceptives and other birth control devices doing an excellent job,  career women and their husbands do not have to sacrifice their sexual pleasures.

As such, the woman can defer the decision to get pregnant indefinitely.
